Businesses Owned by Women of Color

  • There are 2.4 million firms owned 50% or more by women of color in the U.S.
  • They employ 1.6 million people.
  • They are generating nearly $230 billion in sales annually.
  • Asian women employer firms have the highest survival rate of all women-owned firms with 77% of their businesses in operation in 1997, still in business in 2000.

75% percent of all firms do not have employees. 81% of women-owned firms are without employees, for a total of 5.4 million firms.

Banking and Finance
